Recently? Every Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind. And, of course, Star Citizen takes up most of my time nowadays. My last MMO was MechWarrior Online where I was an XO under Agony in the 9th Sword of the Dragon. Years ago, just before I started MWO, I added a slew of games to my Steam account that, to this day, have yet to be played. I tend to enjoy RPGs like the Elder Scrolls series or Half Life or Tomb Raider, but I'm also a fan of flying and Sci-Fi... sometimes even in my games.
I'm a 40-something engineer, but it's been a twisty road to get here. Originally I went to a tech school and did construction surveying for a few years. But, being of mild constitution and finicky comfort levels, I decided that I wanted a desk job. Mostly because surveying was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. So after a few years in college, I emerged with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Then spent a year unemployed.
Oddly, this is also where I met my wife. But I'll leave the details of that to your imagination. I'm sure any sordid story you come up with will be much more interesting than how she showed up at my doorstep with a cake on my birthday.
Anyway, as the economy picked back up, I was able to land a job with a major aerospace company here in Denver. They've hung onto me now for 13 years and I've moved from operations to software integration to software testing. And now I automate our software tests with a commercially available software package. So, yeah, I've not engineered a damn thing with my mechanical degree. But who cares?! I thought I wanted a career. Turns out I just wanted a steady paycheck!
I've not been in the military, but I did attempt to get into the Air Force as an officer after graduating college. However, they flunked me at the physical. Never said why, but I imagine they also noted my mild constitution and finicky comfort levels. Haahaahaa!
But it has all turned out for the best. I got to stay in beautiful Colorado and basically work for the military anyway, just on the civilian side. Ain't life grand?
School of Hard Knocks and a piece of paper from someplace that I'm still paying for.
Never really felt the need to strike off on my own endeavors. I enjoy the corporate life and have achieved a certain level of autonomy and flexibility with my seniority. I work with awesome people in a decent company with a focus on supporting our military. I'm quite happy with that.
Old Blood And Guts History:
Joined in October of 2016 after owning Star Citizen since August of 2014. My friend Agony talked me into buying my initial Aurora package, but I hated the complex flight system and avoided it for a long time. Then Agony found =BG= and encouraged several of us from MWO to join with him. After joining =BG=, and taking the time to learn the flight system better, I bought a Gladius and a Sabre during the Christmas sales of 2016.
Now I'm a wing commander. Still not sure how that happened, but I blame Agony just the same. Haahaahaaa!
Cigar smoking, drinking good beer and whisky (or even whiskey), playing computer games (though sometimes it feels like I just collect them), and shooting pool.
And my two cats sometimes feel like hobbies that poop in boxes and puke in magically random places for me to find.
