Squadron Battle Maps

This section will give a brief breakdown of each maps' not so obvious win conditions and little tweaks to ticket loss
(making the enemy lose all of its planes/tanks is a win on all maps)

Korelia :
No ticket loss when you die. You can bomb the air field with 3 drops of 4000 kg from a Do-217 or cap to win.

Ash River
You can bomb the air field with 4 drops of 4000 kg from a Do-217. Bombing mini bases makes the other team lose large amounts of tickets.

Jungle:
You spawn at low altitude on this map. Cap to win -or- have more kills than deaths than enemy team when time runs out.

Finland and Berlin:
No ticket loss when you die (must cap to win)

Normandy:
Cap to win -or- have more kills than deaths than enemy team when time runs out. If you get the north spawn you have a huge advantage as your planes spawn 50% closer to the tanks than the enemy team.

Battle of Hurtgen Forest and White Rock Fortress :
Cap to win -or- have more tickets than the enemy when time runs out. You can bomb the air field with 4 drops of 4000 kg from a Do-217. Bombing mini bases makes the other team lose large amounts of tickets.

Kursk:
You spawn very high on this map. Cap to win -or- have more kills than deaths than enemy team when time runs out.

Poland, Mozdok, and Eastern Europe:
Cap to win -or- have more kills than deaths than enemy team when time runs out.

Carpathians: 
No ticket loss when you die (do following to win) You can bomb the air field with 4 drops of 4000 kg from a Do-217. Bombing the commander tank and capping the cargo makes the enemy lose tickets.

Squadron Battle Modes 

Now that you know the ways you can win on each map we'll go into the 3 different modes of Squadron Battles.

Domination: 
On this mode there are 3 caps for tankers to capture, the more caps you have the more tickets the enemy team loses.
(TIP : Take an enemy's cap point before taking an open cap point)
(TIP : Majority of your team should have a bomb or rockets equipped while flying)

 Conquest: 
On this mode there is 1 cap for tankers to capture, once captured the enemy team will start to lose tickets.
(TIP : Have one of your two Tankers bring a plane with a bomb instead of a Tank if the cap is open or if you own the cap) 

Battle:
On this mode there is a cap for each team, once captured the enemy team loses tickets very rapidly - almost instant win.
(TIP : Do not bring tanks unless you absolutely have no other choice - win via other conditions if possible)

Break:
This mode is exactly like Battle mode, but when you take their cap the game spawns

Team Composition:

Fighter Bomber - British utilizing the bomb mods of the (not in any order)
Tempest Mk II,
Tempest Mk V,
Seafire Mk XVII,
Seafire FR 47,
Sea Fury FB 11,
Spitfire Mk 22 and 24,
Spitfire LF Mk IX,
Typhoon Mk 1b/L

Primary Job: Not dying until they Bomb AT LEAST one tank (except in battle/break mode) 

This is the hardest role to play and requires a lot of time and effort to prefect.

 

The rest of your team should be compromised with players flying and tanking with Germany or tanking with US/RU.

High Flyer - German with more 109s than FWs, Kugelblitz or Do-217 - These are your best fighters in your squadron (high Kill / Death ratio)

Primary Job : Prevent their team from being spawn camped / Spawn camp the enemy 

Opportunity - German with more FWs than 109s, Kugelblitz or Do-217 - These guys like to head on and bomb tanks

Primary Job : Cover Ally Fighter Bombers, Kill Enemy Fighter Bombers, and Bomb Marked Tanks / Tanks capping

Do NOT bring only tanks

Do NOT bring more than 2 Do-217s

DO bring as many Kugelblitz as possible

You want 2 High Flyers, 2 Opportunity, 2 Tanks, and 2 Fighter Bombers (one can be German)

another one which acts like the cap in Battle mode

 

Caller - this player is the one who adjusts the tactic(s) being used and enforces it by calling out primary targets. This is typically the person who is organizing the group and building the team based on their knowledge of the players in the squadron. This player should not be the tanker because they cannot call the battle effectively in this role due to lack of map vision. The Caller typically is the reason you win or the reason you lose a match. a Caller that does not speak much is not a Caller - they are an organizer. 

 General Tips:
Get additional crew slots if you plan on getting to top 20 (8 minimum) and buy back ups for your vehicles (for emergency only)

USE DISCORD

 Do NOT lead the enemy back to your spawn EVER - always advance to theirs or lead them away from the battle and J out / kill them.

Light Tanks like the T50, Pz.III F, and M4A1 are a must for any tanker.

With the start of a new season for squadron battles, the following changes of game mechanics, team roster and respawns will be implemented:

Main changes in the Arcade Battles mode:

  1. Number of respawns is limited by vehicle type. Aircraft have 2 respawns, ground vehicles have 3 respawns.
  2. Backup vehicles work as before, but they count as one respawn. (Example: you have 8 crews with 4 ground vehicles and 4 aircraft. You enter the battle with aircraft #1. If you are shot down, you can take any other aircraft in your line-up. If you use a backup of aircraft #1 and get shot down, you will not be able to spawn any other aircraft.)

Main changes in the Realistic Battles mode:

  1. Vehicle selection is now not limited to hangar, but you can choose your vehicle after the mission has begun.
  2. Each team can spawn a maximum of 4 aircraft. The number of ground vehicle spawns is limited to 8.
  3. The maximum spawns per team is 8. Each player has 1 spawn. (Example: If 4 players spawn in aircraft, then those players can only spawn in ground vehicles. Players cannot spawn for the second time in a ground vehicle or aircraft.)
  4. In order to enter a Squadron Battle, you will need to have at least one ground vehicle in your line-up.
  5. Japanese vehicles have been temporarily removed from squadron battles until this nation is provided with a ground vehicle research tree. This is due to the fact that having more than 4 aircraft from Japan in the team will not allow all the players to enter the battle, which leads to imbalance.

 If 4 players spawn in aircraft, then remaining players can only spawn in ground vehicles.

All OBAG members! Tuesday evening we are launching Jelly Palooza - Operation: RED FLAG  - This will be a great opportunity to see what the Squadron Battle mode is in a safe intra-team operation setting. In Operation RED FLAG we will be running 8v8 scenarios Carpathians, Stalingrad and Tunisia battlemaps in both Air and Ground mode So if your interested in Squadron battles, or just want to be a part of RED FLAG join us Tuesday evening, this is open to all members. Train to fight, fight to win!
